Senior Support Worker

If so, we are looking for a support worker with energy, commitment and care for young people aged 5- 19 with learning difficulties and/or challenging behaviours, to encourage continued development and progressions, whilst providing a safe, comfortable and stimulating environment.

Our client is one of the largest charity organisations in the UK. They make sure every child and young person has the love, support and opportunity they need to reach their potential and goals.

Support Worker - Responsibilities-

Provide a safe and stimulating environment for the young people in your care
-

Support and encourage independence where possible and in line with care plans and risk assessments
-

To attend meetings ie service planning meetings, home or site visits and conference meetings with external agencies, representing our client, demonstrating professionalism and our core values, in terms of approach, advice and positioning.
-

Act as Key Worker for the young people
-

To ensure that needs of service users are taken into account when developing ways to support children, young people and their families to patriciate fully.
-

To ensure that right records are kept of the their progress and activity within the service
-

Demonstrate the ability to engage with children, young people and families
-

Understand and support physical, intellectual, linguistic, social and emotional growth
-

Provide and promote the ability to safeguard the welfare of the child or young person
-

Encourage continued development and progressions
-

Any other duties required to ensure the residential setting is clean, safe and comfortable


Support Worker - Qualifications-

NVQ level 2/3 in Health and Social care


OR-

Level 2/3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce


OR-

Level 2/3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce


OR-

BA Childhood and youth studies


OR-

equivalent in experience within Health and Social Care
-

Experience of working in Nursery schools
-

Experience of working with children or young people who have learning difficulties or challenging behaviour is preferred
-

Experience gained within a residential setting is preferred but no essential


An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required to perform this role.
