The System Operator (SO) has undertaken to improve the management of information within its Gas and Electricity functions. There is a new cross-business capability that is targeting the management of core data to ensure the confidence in our decisions. The Business Change team owns the SO Data Models, principles and processes, and the Information Management Governance structure.
This is a unique opportunity for data governance and management specialists to help implement this change, and ensure the quality of our data is continuously improved.

Within this role, you will build and lead a team, managing the development of design authority and governance services for data and modelling, in line with best practices, and ensure that they are being adhered to consistently across the SO entity.Key Accountabilities
- Build and lead a highly motivated, innovative and customer focused team, developing talent and a performance management culture that drives value through employee engagement and successfully meets/exceeds all relevant targets and strategic objectives within the business unit(s).
- Provide leadership to the overall SO change programme and business wide change activity, role modelling new ways of working and owning delivery of elements of the programme to ensure capability is improved and value added to the business.
- To maintain an up-to-date Information Architecture Repository. Monitoring and updating common vocabulary, interface models, data models and NG IEC CIM in the repository, so as to ensure that up-to-date information is available in the repository.
- Input into the development of the IM strategy that would be implemented across the SO Entity, ensuring that the standards and governance frameworks align with the IM strategy being developed.
- Lead the development and implementation of standards, policies and procedures around information management and governance across the SO entity ensuring that the standards are aligned with other IM governance standards across NG and are in line with the legal/regulatory requirements for the entity as well.
- Establish data quality standards and KPIs for the SO entity, ensuring that the standards and KPIs are being adhered to and monitored across the entity, by people within IM roles.
- Liaising with internal and external contacts including Ofgem and other industry bodies.
About you

Ideally educated to degree level, you will have significant experience of data governance and management, including- Strong knowledge of data querying and programming, modelling techniques, data manipulation/management, reporting design, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), information analysis and model management, methodologies and tools and Industry standards.
- Excellent knowledge of a regulated industry
- Strong experience of leading a team of individuals, developing their capabilities and motivating them to collectively achieve the team objectives.

Ideally, you will have:- A certified Data Management qualification/experience
- An understanding of the energy sector - in terms of structure, regulatory environment and the short and long-term issues affecting the industry.
