Job descriptionLead Stress EngineerLocation: Bristol Salary: Up to GBP45000 � Dependant on Experience Our Client provides world-class expertise and experience across all sectors of the Avionics business. They currently have a unique requirement for a Lead Stress Engineer to work on an exciting range of projects. Lead Stress Engineer key Responsibilities This role is for a Lead Stress Engineer, preferably with composite and metallic experience, to perform the following tasks:- - Provide technical leadership for a team performing detailed stress analysis of design solutions derived from Weight Plateau trade studies and weight opportunities. - Liaise with other functions and projects to ensure stress requirements are fully integrated. - Liaise with Risk Sharing Partners, where required. - Assist in the structural design process to help ensure an optimised design for weight, cost and quality. - Report critical technical issues up through functional management. - Support on-going continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through methods, process and other capability improvements. - When required, undertake appropriate, associated project management tasks. Lead Stress Engineer Experience and Qualifications As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate the following skills:- - Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment as an aircraft stress engineer involved in the analysis of composite and metallic structures using a broad range of standard hand and computer methods. - The ability to rapidly and confidently assess structural problems under pressure and to provide the appropriate direction and guidance to team members. - Proven background of technical leadership, with demonstrated knowledge of Static, Fatigue and Damage Tolerance of both composite and metallic structures - A good understanding of aircraft composites production methods and processes. - The ability to ensure that solutions are technically integrated across the whole project. - Demonstrate a high regard for both internal and external customers, whilst maintaining Aircraft integrity as the over-riding principle. - Aeronautical Engineering degree or equivalent. - A good knowledge of Nastran/Patran FEM techniques for metallic and composite structure.
